Meera joined Blacklaws Davis in January 2010. She qualified in 1996 at a human rights firm, JR Jones Solicitors and after 1 year of qualification obtained a waiver from the Law Society to run her firm, Spicer & Associates. This became a niche housing firm which she ran with category 1 status from the Legal Services Commission for a period of 6 years.
Meera has worked as a solicitor for a number of years at Shelter’s Legal Team in London, dispensing advice on housing law to hundreds of solictiors and organisations throughout the UK. Additionally she has undertaken test cases for tenants and the homeless on important issues in housing law, as well as writing articles and case reports for Shelter publications.
Meera specialises in all aspects of tenant housing work including defending possession proceedings, tenancy terms, disrepair and unlawful evictions as well as acting for homeless applicants to the council. Meera has been commited to acting for vulnerable homeless people, particularly those with disabilities.
