Maud qualified as a solicitor in 1990 having already specialised in family law during her training. She has gone on to focus on children work, in particular dealing with care cases and representing parents and children in complex cases, as one of our specialist advocates.
Maud is a member of the Law Society's children panel (specialist children representative) as well as being qualified as a "higher rights" advocate. This means that she is entitled to appear in family proceedings in any court, and can provide continuity of representation to her clients.
Maud is a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children, the British Association for Adoption and Fostering, Resolution, and the London Children's Solicitors Group. She sits on the executive committee of the Association of Lawyers for Children, and is a committee member of the Interdisciplinary Alliance for Children. She is also a member of the London Designated Family Judge’s advisory group. Maud lectures on family law to a variety of audiences, including other family lawyers and family magistrates.
Chambers and Partners UK Guide 2010 says Maud "is a talented solictor advocate who is frequently called upon to represent children, parents and guardians in public and private court proceedings ... Knowledgeable, hard-working and supportive, she is worth her weight in gold" .
The Legal 500 2010 edition states Maud "is commended for her ‘knowledge of children law and clarity of thinking’. "
